Yoga for Health

Derived from the Sanskrit word "yuji" meaning yoke or union. Yoga is an ancient practice that brings together mind and body. It incorporates breathing exercises, meditation and poses, designed to encourage relaxation, reduce stress and improve a smooth flow of energy. Yoga is a spiritual development practice to train the body and mind to self observe and because aware of its own nature. Yoga is used to cultivate discernment, awareness, self regulation, higher consciousness, and a smooth energy flow.

The true purpose of this 5000 year old practice  was never about contorting into the perfect pose, wearing cute yoga outfits, or building Instagram followers with sexy backbend photos.  Many people think yoga is just physical exercises or postures, when actually they are only the most superficial aspects of this profound science of unfolding the infinite potential of the human mind and soul. Yoga offers not only a list of physical benefits, but also mental and spiritual benefits. Goat yoga

Goat yoga

What is goat yoga? Well goat yoga is a form of therapy, done in a natural setting, with an unexpectedly smart social and cuddly animal. It basically involves allowing the goats to climb on top of you as you perform yoga positions. The goats are also active with us when they are not climbing. They will nuzzle you, sniff you, curl up on your mat, and really just be interested in what you are doing in general.

Do we train the goats to participate? The truth is, we allow the goats to be goats.  We do not train them for these events. Goats by nature, are extremely excellent climbers. In nature, mountain goats often climb up a sheer cliff face, leaving the rest of the world astonished of this ability. Because they instinctively love to climb, they make excellent partners for performing yoga.

There is nothing special to it. We simply start performing yoga and the goats will do what they do best, and start to climb! Our favorite part is when they lay down on your yoga mat to snuggle up to you, just as you perfect your pose.

The funniest part is watching people's faces as a little goat comes up to them and starts to climb, while they're doing a yoga pose. It's a distraction, but a happy distraction. It may sound silly, but goat yoga is significantly helping people that have anxiety depression, and those that are recovering from cancer or illness. Furthermore using goats to assist in yoga therapy for people that suffer from depression and disability makes for a great complimentary medicine to add to their traditional treatments.

Whatever the reason you decide to  participate, goat yoga is a fun and exciting experience, for people of all ages. It is a chance to get out in nature, enjoy some cuddly creatures, and perfect your yoga, all in this same day!!

Kid yoga

The children are our future. In today's world teaching them to enjoy, stress free lives should start at a young age. Our children live in a hurry-up world of busy parents, school pressures, incessant lessons, video games, malls, and competitive sports. We usually don't think of these influences as stressful for our kids, but often they are. The bustling pace of our children's lives can have a profound effect on their innate joy—and usually not for the better.

The same as children pick up their eating habits when they are young, so to the rest of the habits they take into adulthood. Starting them young on a journey of self discovery and enlightenment is one of the best gifts you can give to them.

Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves. Doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them. Yoga brings that marvelous inner light that all children have to the surface.

Offering yoga to children of all ages, we enjoy making it a fun, unforgettable experience, often times telling stories with our poses. Children seem to really enjoy goat yoga as well, for obvious reasons. They get to not only work on developing their mind, body and spirit, they get to play with another inhabitant of Mother Earth, that we all find so cuddly (Who can deny, goats are just so cute!) As well as get to enjoy some fresh air outdoors connecting with nature!

However you decide to involve your children in doing yoga, you will not be sorry. You will immediately see a difference in their behavior, attitude and over all well being. It will help to change their view on the world around them, and about themselves.
